The Pantone Color Institute has announced their 2023 Color of the Year: Viva Magenta, a lush red with a mixture of warm and cool undertones.
According to the color experts at Pantone, this shade of red was chosen for its exuberant, brave, and fearless quality, as well as its connection to nature. Inspired by the color of the cochineal, Viva Magenta is an expressive magenta shade with natural origins.
Viva Magenta represents a shift from last year’s Color of the Year. In 2022, the color authority’s annual color pick was the carefree Very Peri, a soft periwinkle blue color with a lighter tone. Viva Magenta is decidedly more rich, warm, and bold. Its deep yet vibrant color has a powerful energy and a feeling of fun.
